About

About Us

Serbian American Medical and Dental Society (SAMDS) was formed in Chicago in 1992 by physicians from the former Republic of Yugoslavia, Serbia, a civil war-torn country at the time. The first inaugural conference was held on September 13th 1992. Initially, SAMDS had a vision and focused on a mission to help all civil war victims and refugees from the former country of Yugoslavia.
Throughout the years, SAMDS has expanded its purpose and goals and became involved in different ways, some of which included offering organized free screenings for conditions like diabetes, hypertension, prostate cancer, breast cancer, and mental health (to name a few) to men and women in the Chicago land area. SAMDS has also helped raise money to purchase some of the most basic medical equipment such as EKG machines, stethoscopes, and ultrasound machines, as well as medications for hospitals in Serbia.  The organization continues to be involved and hopes to further invest in helping young medical students with Serbian heritage pursue their education, training and residency in the United States.

As we continue to pursue our purpose of helping human lives, and as a non-for-profit organization, our mission is not possible without membership dues, financial support and donations.

We truly appreciate your consideration of helping our cause.

Sincerely,

Serbian American Medical and Dental Society (SAMDS)
